Money
Sending money to and from Norway (and bringing cash)
How newcomers move money into Norway: why you need a Norwegian account, cash declaration rules above NOK 25,000, and transfer options.
Checklist step 5 of 13
To open an account you must be resident in Norway, have valid ID (passport or national ID card) and a Norwegian identity number (D number or national identity number). You need a Norwegian account to receive salary, pay bills and use Vipps; most shops accept international cards.
Banks: see the provider table. Users on r/Norway describe DNB as easy for newcomers (anecdotal).
