Electronic ID: MinID, Buypass, BankID
You need a national identity number or D number to get an electronic ID. It lets you use NAV, the Tax Administration, Helsenorge and more.
- MinID – with a D number you can order an activation letter, which arrives by post within a few days.
- Buypass ID – recommended by newcomers on r/Norway as a quicker stopgap while waiting for BankID.
- BankID – comes through your bank, after you have a bank account (next steps).
